The 2024 picnic season will be at Possumtown and Riverside park pavilions from Saturday, June 1st - Sunday, September 15th for any seven-hour block of time between 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Picnic events are limited to 200 people.

In-person reservations will be held on Saturday, February 3rd from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at The YMCA at the Piscataway Community Center (YPCC). Snow date will be Saturday, February 10th same time. Reservations may be made after February 3rd by contacting the Township Recreation Department at (732) 562-2382 and scheduling an appointment. Only Township residents, businesses, and community organizations may apply for a permit and ID is required when making a request.

Cost for picnics is $250 for the picnic permit and if requested $150 for an alcohol permit.

*Reservations cannot be made for Holidays or Holiday weekends*.

The  Picnic Rules & Regulations will need to be signed upon approval of the picnic permit.

Who may reserve a park pavilion?

Piscataway - resident / based business/ non-profit community organization. The submission of more than one (1) request per family, individual department of a business, or organization is prohibited. No Piscataway resident, business, or organization may submit a request on behalf of any person/business/organization not residing in or based in Piscataway.

You will need to show proof of residency, complete the application request and make payment.  No cash payment is accepted; check or money order only made payable to Township of Piscataway.  Fees: $250 park rental; $150 alcohol permit (optional).  Alcohol permit requests will not be considered less than 10 business days prior to your picnic.

The "host" must be present at all times of the picnic, is solely responsible for his or her guests and is the only authorized person permitted to bring alcohol if an alcohol permit has been requested.  Any host who violates the picnic rules and regulations will have his or her picnic immediately cancelled by the park attendant with no exceptions.

On the day of your event, you must have your copy of the reservation form and, if applicable, alcohol permit with you for the park attendant to verify.

There is a seven (7) hour maximum duration time for a picnic and picnic cannot start until 10 a.m.  The time includes any set up and clean up your event requires.  Reservation requests are on a first-come, first-served basis.
